HiFiBerry Amp Software Volume Control

If I adjust the volume on such a Pi running a Hifiberry amp HAT using the slider on Jivelite (or a USB volume wheel come to that)

does anyone know if this is adjusting the digitally in the DAC or in the analog stage?

I can't find anything documented?
