Hi!
I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct forum to ask about this, but I had an idea for a "smart" synchronization feature for the Squeezebox players. I have quite a few Squeezebox radios spread out over different locations: I have four in my apartment in the city and four in my rural house - all connected to the same LMS. Oftentimes I listen to the same content on the different players and synchronization would've been a good choice for a more "seemless" listening experience. The problem is that even though the synchronization works fine once set up, it's a bit of a hassle to actually set it up every time you use it.
So my suggestion/feature request is as follows: All players that are inside a configurable domain (for instance "basement in house A", "living area in apartment B") will automatically synch up if the same content is being played. So if player A is playing BBC Radio and then player B starts playing the same stream (identified by URL), then these two players should synch up. The same happens if a third player starts playing the same stream. If one of the players starts playing something else, it's removed from the synch group, and so on for the rest of the players, until there's only one player left. None of these players should be the master and force the other players to play anything else - that's what you have the forced synchronization feature for (the one you have to manually set up).
Has anyone any idea how to implement this? Or has something like this already been implemented?
