With OranjeQueeze I'm able to place spotty in the main menu, how to do this in the main menu of LMS?

Tidal keeps rebuffering

$

My Tidal plugin, especially at night, starts rebuffering at shorter and shorter intervals, until it is unlistenable.
My internet is 120 Mbps download, and I have run ping plotter to tidal during the rebuffering events, and there are no network drops between me and Tidal.com. Everything is hard-wired Ethernet, so there are no WiFi issues. My server is a fast dell runnineap 42.1, ad it has 32GB of memory.
So I can only conclude that somehow the Tidal plugin is screwing up. The Tidal apps on my Mac and iPad never have this issue, and they are on the same network.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Spotty Feature request - Add Songs List

I'll have to review how the Songs are implemented in Spotify's clients.
But the problem is the size of the list: you'd easily have hundreds of
songs. And we're only allowed to get 50 tracks in one request. Therefore
getting the full list might take dozens of requests. It might work, but
would be slow, for sure. And then how would you expect this massive list
to be presented?

Help moving a defunct plugin to a new LMS instance

That folder is managed by LMS. Therefore you shouldn't put anything in there manually. Check Settings/Information for what other Plugins (with an S at the end) there is. Use that one instead.

Pandora shutting down in Australia - best option for SB3?

Pandora have announced they are shutting down in Australia and New Zealand this weekend. I use Pandora A LOT on my SB Boom and SB3. What is the next best option to play a tier 1 streaming service on my 'heritage' squeezebox gear? Spotify? Does that work on this gear?Apple?
PS - I also have a SB Radio, Duet and Touch if that changes your advice.

Spotify Sort Order

Hi !

I am using a mixed setup of piCore Player to run LMS, data on a NAS and different players in the house (SBC, Touch, Boom). I also heavily used the original Spotify plugin and have switched to Spotty plugin when changing to piCore Player. I am also using Spotify apps on my mobile and on different desktops at work and at home. To control the system I am using "SqueezeCtrl" app on android at home.

My "starred" playlist sort order is reversed on anything Squeeze-related. When opening that playlist in a spotify app (desktop or handheld) playlist order is fine. When opening same playlist on the Squeezebox Touch or the SqueezeCtrl app the order is exactly reversed.

Changing the playlist sort order in one of the original Spotify apps did not mitigate change in the playlist sort order in the Squeeze environment.

Is there a cross platform genius out there able to help with that problem? I would like to reverse playlist order on the Touch or in SqueezeCtrl or -even better- to have the Spotify sorting order being correctly relayed to the Squeeze devices.

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Installing Max2Play and Spotty on a SD card for the technically challenged

$

As a numpty I managed to blunder through burning the latest version of max2play onto an sd card and installing it on Raspberry PI2 to run LMS for my SB Boom and Touch.

This is how I did this.

I’m sure there are easier ways would appreciate any pointers or advise on anything I could do better or didn’t need to do. All feedback / advice welcome would be greatly appreciated.

------------------------------------------------------
Prior to this I’ve downloaded the following onto my laptop (other software is available that does similar things).

7-zip (to extract the download file) http://www.7-zip.org/
Win32DiskImager (which takes the extracted Image file and burns it onto the SD) https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
SD Formatter (in case your need to re-format the sddisk if everything goes wrong) http://download.cnet.com/SD-Formatte...-75883295.html

----------------------------

Installing Max2play
I downloaded the lastest Max2play image for the raspberry PI from the below.
https://www.max2play.com/en/max2play-image/

Opened 7-Zip, and extracted the image file from the Max2Play file that I’d just downloaded.
Inserted SD card into the laptop
Opened Win32DiskImager selected the folder that the Max2play image was in, madding sure that the correct drive for the SD card was selected and clicked on “Write”.
Once complete I removed the SD card and inserted it in the Raspberry PI.
I connected the Raspberry PI my router via an Ethernet Cable, then plugged the power socket into the Raspberry PI. After a few moments you should get the lights come on the PI and on the Ethernet connection.
On the lap top type in http://max2play/ into the URL bar and enter. A graphical user interface will appear.
I then pretty much followed the max2play guide https://www.max2play.com/en/wiki/starter-guide/

I only did the below two stages from the guide which was:-
• Click on the menu tab Settings/Reboot. There, fill out the boxes for the email address (used during your purchase of the bundles) and a specific name for your device (e.g. “Living Room”; “Kitchen”; “Bath Room”)

• Now click on the Button Expand Filesystem. After this it is important to reboot the system.
I then clicked on to the Squeezebox server tab and downloaded the latest version Squeezebox server Selected Nightly 7.9 (not sure if I needed to do this).

Clicked on Open Squeezebox Sever Webadministration
Clicked on Settings (bottom right)
Clicked on the Plugins Tab
Ticked the box to enable Spotty from the list
Disabled all other Spotify plugins
Applied and then restarted the LMS server.
Went back to Squeezebox Sever Webadministration . The plugin tab and found the Spotty plugin in the list and went along to the setting section on the right hand side at the end.
Followed the instructions for Spotify authorisation and it was up and running.

Any recommended changes/ additions / feedback or better ways of doing this welcome

[Announce] Native linux pulseaudio squeezeplay

Thanks to Tuukka Pasanen developing the portaudio library pulseaudio hostapi, I've been able to create a SqueezePlay build which uses the pulseaudio system instead of ALSA.

There are debian 7 i386 and debian 8 x86_64 packages available from sourceforge as well as tarballs which must to be extracted into /opt/squeezeplay.

The source is available on github. See the top of Makefile.linux-pulse for build instructions.

I've also created a squeezelite build that uses pulseaudio. See this thread for details.

Enjoy the music.

A simple how to for "Spotty" and pCP

$

Here is a bare bones on how to install Spotty on a Raspberry pi3B.
This is just my simple guide to what I have done, if you use it, you do so at your own risk.
You first need to install LogitechMediaServer on the pi.
Decide which OS you want to use.
I have used piCorePlayer in this example.

Information can be found here

https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home/news

and here for lots more detail on each step

http://picoreplayer.sourceforge.net/main_about.shtml

Here is a precis of the steps involved, it does not take very long to do, just take your time and check each step as you go along.

1) Download piCorePlayer v3.2.1 (I used the normal version)

2) Burn the image to a sd card (4gb, in this case) I used Etcher https://etcher.io/ (which will use the zipped image).

3) Put the SD card into the pi, conect the pi to your network with an Ethernet cable, plug in the power supply and switch on.

Allow a minute or so for the pi to stabalise and then find its IP address.

I went to my router's web pages and looked under DHCP Server, Clients List.

There are also apps to enable you do do this on your computer OS, use Google to find one.

4) Open the pCP web page in your favourite browser.

Size: 119.1 KB

5) Click on the Main Page tab and then on the beta tab at the bottom and the on the Resize FS button

Size: 66.8 KB

6) Choose the size of the partition and follow the instructions (I went with 200MB) Allow time for the reboot.

Size: 174.6 KB

7) Still on the bottom beta tab click on the LMS tab on the top of the page.

Click the radio button for Autostart and the Install button for LMS. Be patient it will take a short time to complete.

I'll continue in a second post.

Logfile flooded after starting any MixCloud track

Finally got around to installing MixCloud and resolving a little issue with encoding MP4's I had. I noticed however that the MixCloud Track will not play for very long (a few minutes or so) before it stops. I checked the log file and find that upon playing a MixCloud track I get hundreds of these repeating errors instantly appearing in the log file:

[17-07-29 20:59:45.4761] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (147) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP::sendStreamingResponse: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file descriptor or illegal value): at /<C:\PROGRA~2\SQUEEZ~1\server\SqueezeSvr.exe>Slim/Networking/IO/Select.pm line 150.

Any ideas what these might mean?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Deezer (free) - Pháp.fr - Institut français du Vietnam playlist

I'm using the Deezer app on a free account, and always see the playlist "Pháp.fr - Institut français du Vietnam" as part of the Smart Radio lists.

Of course, I'm using a free Deezer account, so I shouldn't complain too much about what I get - but anyone know what this Smart Radio list is and why it happens to pop up with the other genres?

Announce: lms.el - a squeezebox controller for emacs

$
0

Hi,

I'm pleased to announce the first version of lms.el, a squeezebox controller for emacs editor.
It is released under GPL version 3 license or later.

Some of the features:
  • Display song: title, artist, album, year, cover…
  • Play, pause, stop, select next / previous song
  • Control players: select player, power on/off, volume, repeat and shuffle modes
  • Playlist control: list, select song, delete track, clear
  • Show track information and change rating

As today, July 31th, 2017, there are some missing features (like music browsing or searching), but they will be added during next weeks (read September as I will leave for holidays in a few days).
It is not aimed to be a complete controller, as it can’t - and won’t - manage external sources such us BBC, Deezer, Pandora, Spotify, or TuneIn Radio.

It requires emacs version 25 or higher.
Quick instructions: customize some basic parameters lms-hostname, lms-telnet-port, lms-html-port, lms-username, lms-password and run it with lms-ui. From there, you could read complete documentation after pressing h key.

Code is stored in the BitBucket repository and it will appear soon on Emacs MELPA repository..

More information in the blog post: https://inigo.katxi.org/blog/2017/07/31/lms_el.html.

Of course, any ideas, suggestions and comments will be well received.

Spotty Problem: Perl Modul IO::Socket::SSL!

$

Hi Everybody,
I've installed Spotty and upgraded to LMS 7.9.1 on my QNAP TS-453 NAS, deinstalled old Spotify plugins but can't get Spotty to work:

I'm still getting error messages requesting for Perl Modul IO::Socket:SSL!

"Spotty benötigt das Perl Modul IO::Socket::SSL! Ohne dieses Modul ist die Nutzung von Spotty NICHT möglich. Bitte benutze den Paket-Manager deines Betriebssystems um es zu installieren."

Are there already solutions for this?

Thank you very much in advance,

Kind regards

PcP does not react on Wake on LAN (WOL) package

I'm trying to get a shutdown PcP to wakeup when receiving a WOL magic packet but the pi does not wakeup.
Pi3 with static adres and PcPv3.20beta5. Noticed that when i go to MainPage -> Extra's -> test is still uses the old (DHCP) adres. Is this like it should be?
sending a packet to port 9 and mac adress found on MainPage -> Diagnostics -> Raspberry pi behind Physical MAC

Anyone a idea?
Btw for example a pc does startup when sending a packet to that computer.

Mixcloud on Boom (and Squeezplay)

$

First of all thanks to everyone who is doing the work to keep my system going in the ever changing world of music streaming.
Now the tech question. I cannot get the new Mixcloud plugin to work on my Boom player or SqueezePlay app. Works fine on my Touch. "Problem:Unable to play file type..."
Using
LMS v 7.7.5 Window machine
LMS v 7.9.0 Debian Raspberry Pi
Note: Neither Windows LMS and Debian LMS work to play Mixcloud on the two devices mentioned (all other plugins work on both systems connect to the Boom and Squeezeplay)
And as I said, the Touch players runs Mixcloud and everything else from both flavors of LMS.
Boom Firmware 57
SqueezePlay 7.8.0-r719
Mixcloud plugin v0.1.2

Is there hope to get my Boom to play Mixcloud tracks?
Thanks
